KCADC Supports Kansas APEX Legislation

by Laura Phillips | Feb 08, 2022
Governor Laura Kelly and Lt. Governor David Toland are urging swift action to pass an economic development bill that could help Kansas land the biggest private sector investment in the state’s history. The project would bring 4,000 new jobs to Kansas and inject $4 billion in business investment into the Kansas economy. The legislation known as Attracting Powerful Economic Expansion Act (APEX), continues to receive wide range of bipartisan support by business and community leaders across the state.

KCADC encourages our partners and community members to contact their legislative representative and urge them to support the APEX bill.

[VIDEO] Tim Cowden, President & CEO, Kansas City Area Development Council: “I implore the Kansas legislature to pass APEX mega-project incentives legislation. For Kansas and Kansas City to truly reach our potential we’ve got to have this. So, think about it, think about it hard. We appreciate your consideration in passage.”

[VIDEO] David Toland, Lieutenant Governor of Kansas, Secretary of the Kansas Department of Commerce: “We are a finalist for what would be the largest private sector investment in our state’s history. This is a very big deal. Kansas must land this opportunity and let me tell you why. This company will invest $4 billion in Kansas. That’s $4 billion… billion with a ‘B’ injected back into our economy. This will create four thousand good paying Kansas jobs.”

[VIDEO] Ray Kowalik, President & CEO, Burns & McDonnell, and Co-Chair, KCADC: "I want to put my full support behind the APEX bill making it through the Kansas legislature. I think it’ll be great for the State of Kansas and attract a lot of industries that come along with those mega-projects.”
