KUPCE Develops Training Programs to Address KC Workforce Needs

by Kaitlin Motley | Aug 17, 2015

KU Professional & Continuing Education (KUPCE) is offering a pair of August professional training programs at the Edwards Campus in Overland Park. The programs will address Kansas City workforce needs emphasized during recent collaborations between university and industry leaders.

KUPCE’s Science Manager Certification Program and the Getting Big Data symposium are the latest results of the collaborations. New research, educational content, and resources at KU were explored to be adapted into these new training programs.

The curriculum in the new Science Manager Certification Program will provide current and potential managers in technical- and science-related industries with essential management skills. The program’s first course begins August 24.

KUPCE met with nearly 50 representatives from a variety of Kansas City industries who identified the need for big data training. Leading KU faculty and local experts will join together to share their insights at Getting Big Data, a symposium slated for August 25–26 at the Edwards Campus.
