Kansas City Area Development Council named #1 “Best in Class” Economic Development Group

by Lexi Ryan | Sep 19, 2017

KCADC was named as the top regional economic development organization in the U.S., according to a new survey of U.S. corporate executives and location advisors.

“Our customers are the number one driver of our success as the region’s economic development team,” said Tim Cowden, president and CEO, Kansas City Area Development Council. “We are honored that they have chosen to recognize the dedication and passion behind our regional partnership.”

Conducted by Development Counsellors International (DCI) every three years, the “Winning Strategies in Economic Development Marketing” survey has tracked trends in economic development since its inception in 1996. For the first time, the survey also includes findings about how the current political climate affects business perceptions.

According to the 80 site selection consultants who participated in the survey, 21% percent identified KCADC as a “best in class” economic development organization in an open-ended question.

“The Winning Strategies survey provides insights into the minds of key decision makers—from their perceptions on locations around the world to how they get the information that shapes those perceptions,” said DCI President Andrew T. Levine. “As the competition for business expansions and talent intensifies, this information can be crucial to communities looking to set themselves apart from other locations.”
