Cheers to 2022

by Laura Phillips | Dec 20, 2022

We all know 2022 was a huge year for KC - and it wouldn’t have happened without the continued work and collaboration of our partners. Let’s look at how, together, we took the region to a new level.

Together, we broke smashed records.

It took years of work on the part of countless partners to win $5.6 billion in capital investment, $354 million in payroll and nearly 6,000 jobs.

And there was nothing quite like celebrating a year of big wins with 1,800 of our closest friends at the 2022 KCADC Annual Meeting. (Don’t forget to save the date for 2023.)

Together, we amplified KC’s industries.

The 2022 Animal Health Summit brought industry leaders from around the world back in-person to celebrate the region’s pivotal role in animal health.

KC SmartPort broke the attendance record (it’s a theme this year) for its Annual Industry Briefing: KC Delivers, with more than 650 guests.

We grew representation from the region’s industries, welcoming 35 new investors in 2022 - including 14 A/E/C firms that joined our newest initiative, KC Global Design.

TeamKC engaged hundreds of recruiting leaders and HR execs to further our region’s competitiveness as a top talent destination, sharing best practices on DEI&B, Gen Z, future of work and more.

Together, we shared the KC love.

KC Heartland and representatives from KCADC investor companies landed on three regional campuses to share the lifestyle and career benefits of Kansas City - with 2,205 students, to be exact. (Even the mascots got in on the KC Heartland love.)

The newest edition of KC Options told the diverse stories of people who call KC home, featuring a cover story on the region’s first black-owned brewery, Vine Street Brewing.

Now more than 3,600 people - inside and outside KC - are connected to the KC Heartland network, receiving regular communications about everything that makes our region special. Are you a KC Heartlander yet?

Together, we made 2022 the year to beat.

Thank you to all of our investors and partners around the region for all your work to grow Kansas City with us, and here’s to making 2023 even bigger.
