Kansas City will soon be home to the largest coworking studio on earth –
Westport Commons – thanks to the efforts of Kansas City Sustainable Development Partners and Lenexa-based coworking community
Plexpod. The partners have already begun transforming KC’s former Westport Middle School as part of the 12-acre project.
Amid the construction, founder of recently launched Firebrand Ventures, John Fein, also partnered with Plexpod. Fein, former managing director of Techstars’ Sprint Accelerator, will provide programming in the new coworking space.
Expected to open in January 2017, Westport Commons continues to garner national attention.
The New York Times highlighted the KC space, saying it will be “among the most diverse co-working spaces,” with amenities including a recording studio, barbershop, fitness center and more. Westport Commons was featured among other nationwide projects where cities are attempting “to remake themselves physically, culturally and economically.”
The coworking space will be located on the north side of KC’s 39th Street near Main Street. For companies and investors looking to have a direct connection with startups and entrepreneurs, Westport Commons is the answer.
