This July, KCnext hosted 115 of our tech council peers from across North America for the Technology Councils of North America's (TECNA) Summer Conference.
TECNA represents 52+ technology trade associations that collectively represent more than 22,000 tech-related companies in the U.S. and Canada. The Summer Conference is designed to be an agent of change and ideas, as well as a powerful support mechanism for regional tech organizations being economic drivers.
With Google Fiber, a booming startup scene, unprecedented lifestyle assets and Cisco's smart cities project all in Kansas City, there couldn't have been a better time to host these organizations in KC.
KCnext, in conjunction with the TECNA planning committee, worked hard to infuse the conference with a good mix of industry-relevant topics and practical information for tech council staff members.
During the three-day conference, attendees discussed sponsorship ROI, member research, event ideas, policy efforts, content marketing and more that serve their day-to-day work.
Kansas City really got to shine during two general sessions designed to get attendees thinking about topics that are important to their membership, and the role of the tech council within those topics: workforce and disruptive technology deployment.
KCnext was privileged to work with TeamKC on a panel that challenged attendees to "Think Like a Recruiter" and included HR execs from AMC Theatres, Garmin and Sprint.

Finally, KCnext was also fortunate to have the support of Sprint/Pinsight Media+, Black & Veatch and Cisco on a panel discussing smart cities and the role of tech councils in deploying disruptive technology.

Many thanks to all of the sponsors, volunteers and participants in TECNA's Summer Conference. KCnext was honored to host!
