Vytelle Provides Solutions for the “Triple Challenge”

by Emily McVey | Jan 19, 2022

The global cattle industry is facing what the team at Vytelle calls the triple challenge. Farmers are facing a growing demand for global protein driven by the upsurge of consumers who are demanding meat and milk be produced sustainably. The industry must find ways to do so that also allow producers to be profitable.

This means farmers must increase productivity while also improving efficiency by producing with less. Achieving both these outcomes as a dual strategy is essential to competitive and viable protein production.

Headquartered in the Animal Health Corridor, Vytelle is a precision livestock company reshaping how cattle producers worldwide optimize their herds. Through Vytelle’s integrated technology platform, generations of genetic gains can be made in just a few years. This allows producers to sustainably deliver more protein with fewer inputs, helping to ensure meat and milk are viable, competitive food choices for future generations.

Vytelle has built the first integrated livestock technology platform to accelerate genetic progress in cattle. Producers that adopt the Vytelle platform have a tool to identify their most valuable and elite genetics, increase the reliability of the intended outcomes from their mating decisions and accelerate their intended genetic outcomes. It’s through this platform that we’re able to help producers with the two high-stake decisions to accelerate genetic progress: mating selection and reproduction method.

RECENT FUNDING

In September of 2021, Vytelle announced the closure of an oversubscribed Series A funding worth USD $13.2MM. Private equity firm Open Prairie, through the Open Prairie Rural Opportunities Fund, and Kansas-based Ag-tech VC, Fulcrum Global Capital, co-led the round. The financing also included participation from new Midwest investors Serra Ventures, Innovation In Motion, and KCRise, as well as existing investor, UK-based Wheatsheaf Group.

Through the latest series of funding, Vytelle will make its services more accessible to producers across the globe. They plan to double their labs across the globe, making in vitro fertilization more accessible to cattle producers. The five new products they will launch will provide the most reliable and predictable decision support tools, delivering more concrete and accurate data for mating selection decisions.

GROWTH

Over the past four years, Vytelle has captured 20% of the US IVF market share. Their five-year plan is fueled by their commitment to producers to provide accessible IVF locations across the globe and the most reliable services backed by predictable mating decisions. Vytelle hired 43 new employees in 2021 and is continually looking to fill positions in their expanding labs, operation and field teams, among other roles.
