The Animal Health Corridor is pleased to welcome Spencer Breithaupt, Vice President of Sales & Supply Chain Solutions at MWI Animal Health, a part of AmerisourceBergen, as the 2022 Chairman and Caroline Belmont, VP of US Global Innovation & US Regulatory Affairs at Boehringer Ingelheim, as Vice-Chairman.
Through board leadership, the Corridor brings the global animal health industry together around shared priorities with the goal of working collaboratively and speaking with one voice to advance the industry. The key priorities of the Corridor in 2022 are:

Workforce Development
Develop workforce strategies to attract and retain a workforce skilled in key competencies meeting the needs of Corridor companies. Work with companies, educational institutions, and other industry organizations to raise awareness of the breadth and depth of career opportunities and to develop a more diverse workforce.

Advancing Innovation
Serve as a conduit for advancing innovation within the animal health industry by working with innovators to advance their technologies and educate capital partners on the ROI of the animal health industry.

Engagement of the Animal Health Industry
The Corridor will use its communication tools and platforms to amplify the positive stories and news of the animal health industry. Additionally, the Corridor’s assets, initiatives and successes will be shared to allow the KC region to be known worldwide as the center of the animal health industry.

Public Policy Development Efforts
The Corridor will support federal and state legislation and policies that advance and promote Corridor assets. The Corridor will build coalitions and support stakeholders who advance education, innovation, research and full operational funding for the National Bio and Agro Defense Facility (NBAF).
Breithaupt’s Focus and Passion – Raising Awareness of Careers in Animal Health
As the son of a veterinarian, Spencer has been in and around the animal health industry his entire life. With 39 years of experience in various leadership roles for multiple organizations, Breithaupt brings deep expertise and insights to the Corridor Board and each of the focus areas of the organization. Spencer has a passion for recruiting new talent into the animal health industry. In 2022, Breithaupt is doubling down his efforts to tell the story of animal health to the next generation of talent, reinforcing that the animal health industry is where you can build a long and lasting career in a rapidly growing, recession-proof industry.
Through his leadership, the Corridor will host events and use its workforce website to highlight the diversity of animal health careers to high school and college students. The animal health industry is not just for those wanting to become a veterinarian or those that are 4-year degree bound- the animal health industry is diverse! The industry needs analysts, logistics specialists, finance, human resources, marketing, sales, research, scientific expertise and more.
